The centrepiece of this jade ring is a Type A jadeite saddle shape which is almost transparent in its translucency. In fine colorless jadeite, the most translucent pieces are termed as "glassy variety" jadeite. Other than high translucency, the jadeite would need to have a strong enough shimmer which can be noticed within the jadeite material. This shimmer is usually known as a fluorescence effect "起熒光“ which adds a glow to the jade piece. Glassy variety refers to higher degree of transparency, which is rare, as compared to icy jade.
What make this piece interesting is the more vivid green patterns or flowers (飘綠花) can be seen within the jadeite material. High translucency of the jadeite allows these natural decorations to seemingly "float" within the jadeite ring. This beautiful effect is complemented by a soft glow that emanates from within the jadeite ring and can be observed from various angles in any lighting conditions.
